As anyone that’s been into our showroom over the past few years will know, we love our motorcycles and we’ve been amassing a bit of a collection. We like to focus on quality machines – the kind we’d like to ride – and take a lot of pride in what we stock.

That’s why we’re so stoked that Colton’s has become an official dealer for Royal Enfield and Benelli motorcycles in New Zealand, covering Taranaki and parts of the lower North Island – New Plymouth, Hawera and Whanganui.

As a company, Royal Enfield has been around for more than a hundred years, putting out their first bike in the UK in 1901 before moving production to India in the 1950s where the brand really took off – a lot of that on the back of the classic Royal Enfield Bullet and Continental models. Their tagline is “the oldest global motorcycle brand in continuous production” so it’s a company with a really interesting history but they’re banging out some fantastic and fun new bikes – all done with their retro look and cafe racer appeal.

A lot of people in NZ won’t know much about the Benelli brand because their bikes haven’t been widely available here, but they started manufacturing in Italy way back in 1911. Like Royal Enfield, that means the company has a really long and interesting history of production and success, including in the racing world. For a long time the flagship Benelli motorcycle has been the Leoncino but they’ve really been knocking it out of the park with some of the newer releases – the Benelli TRK502 model has become a top seller in Italy (a country known for its love of two wheeled machines) and won industry acclaim Down Under.

One of the neat things about the Royal Enfield and Benelli motorbikes we stock (apart from the performance and looks…) is that they’re LAMS approved so are suitable for riders on a Learner’s License.
